MXenes are two-dimensional (2D) materials with the general formula Mₙ₊₁XₙTₓ, where n = 1, 2, or 3, representing three elemental components. M is a transition metal such as Ti, X is carbon (C), and Tₓ represents various surface terminations, for example fluorine (–F), hydroxyl (–OH), and/or oxygen (–O).The difference between the MAX phase and the MXene phase is that MAX (Ti₃AlC₂) still contains Al atoms, whereas MXene has been delaminated, meaning the Al atoms have been removed through an etching process.

Test Results:

XRD patterns show a dominant Ti₃C₂Tₓ peak at 2θ = 6.5°, with a very low TiC peak, indicating extremely low impurity levels. The XRD peaks are consistent with the JCPDS card No. 52–0875.

Applications:

MXene powder can be used for lithium, sodium, and zinc battery applications, triboelectric devices, heavy metal and azo dye adsorption, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, gas sensors, composites, and supercapacitors.
